Packaging Development Associate

Position Summary

Work directly with all departments to support the Company’s strategic goals and objectives. Assist in product flow of all items for maximum efficiencies with pallet and corrugate development for all facilities


Essential duties & responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop of all shipper boxes
  • Request quotes and instruct how they need to cost the quote out
  • Develop pallet configurations for all facilities
  • Maintain Item Master Structure Master using IRIS system information
  • Request product needed for bulk pallets
  • Develop and design special bulk pallets (Quantities, Stacking Requirements)
  • Assist with returning product to inventory
  • Assist with any questions with how a pallet should be built on the Production Floor or in Distribution
  • Develop proper pallet and case dimensions (Weight and Cube)
  • Track progress on ISTA-1A or 3A requests as needed
  • Conduct Assembly Time studies
  • Investigate problems with existing boxes
  • Submit Bars for print plates and die cuts
  • Setup and order new boxes
  • Update Customer Info to their specific needs in our dimensions area
  • Review Customer Vendor Guides
  • Communicate with vendors on a daily basis with regard to schedules and daily issues
  • Scan all print proofs with quotes
  • Call vendor and schedule times needed to pick product up for development

 

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree a plus. Two to Three years previous experience in a manufacture atmosphere in areas of budgeting, cost control, scheduling, production, raw materials, and inventory

Knowledge of:

  • Product specifications
  • Microsoft Office Applications

Skilled in:

  • Computer data entry
  • Drafting and analyzing complex reports and data

Ability to:

  • Understand and perform intermediate math, using Microsoft Excel to find percentage, average, median, quartile, standard deviation, minimum, maximum, and range values
  • Follow verbal and written English instructions
  • Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written
  • Determine if product falls within specification
  • Interact with various divisions within IRIS
  • Exhibit courteous and respectful demeanor towards all company personnel in words and action
  • Exhibit a cooperative, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Build teamwork and resolve conflicts

Activities will involve frequent shifts from sitting to standing, occasionally exerting in excess of 10 pounds but rarely more than 25 pounds of force.

Work will be performed in an office environment with fluorescent lighting and temperature control, and with moderate repetitive and sudden noises from the adjoining production floor. Occasionally incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions and moderate to intense noises when outside the QA office.
